As a CTO (Chief Technology Officer), I build organizations and technology that drive innovative and award-winning products. From strategy to execution, I operate across the full product-stack, engineering, leadership, M&A and technology due diligence. Scaling with radical focus, from zero to millions.
Over the years I’ve worked with inspiring people on impactful projects.
- Temper is a platform for flexible work, helping create a shift-based economy with more than 1 million workers. After joining, we pivoted and built a new platform capable of supporting multiple legal models, including freelance and agency work, across multiple markets. We took it from idea to production in six months.
- True transitioned from a classic hosting provider into a full-service cloud partner, using Kubernetes and DevOps to support customer migrations to the cloud. We became cloud-agnostic by adding Azure, AWS, and GCP alongside locally managed data centers.
- Request created blockchain technology for a universal shared state for payment transactions. I helped shift the team from an R&D mindset to an entrepreneurial one, building products that solved real-world problems and rapidly reaching the first 1 million USD processed in production.
- 3D Hubs started as a 3D printing community. After initial investments, we pivoted from a community marketplace into a B2B-focused global platform, radically changing how we make and distribute things. We rewrote the platform from scratch, rethinking how we analyzed and priced 3D models using our inhouse developed AI, reducing manufacturing times from weeks to hours.
Protolabs acquired 3D Hubs for $330 million. - Google - Project Ara was the successor to Phonebloks: a new modular computing platform. We developed fully working hardware prototypes that allowed users to swap components such as cameras, batteries, and processors. Google suspended Project Ara, though it remains a significant attempt at sustainable technology and influenced many initiatives focused on repairability and modular components.
- Phonebloks started with a design concept for a modular phone by Dave Hakkens. Dave and I designed a more sustainable way to reduce e-waste, creating a social media campaign that reached more than 380 million people with zero marketing budget. We started a community, built a hardware block store, and partnered with Motorola and Sennheiser.
Google acquired Phonebloks. - Cyso is an infrastructure and managed hosting provider. I led the team that conducted research and development and built their first cloud-native platform based on OpenStack. It was fully managed from code, leveraging Git before it was called GitOps.
- Archive.org provides the Wayback Machine, allowing people to view archived internet sites in a digital library. I was part of the team that designed and built the first Petabox in Amsterdam. In 2021, the project had a total capacity of 212 petabytes.

Growing up in the hacker scene I developed a enthusiasm for security. I started my first company at 12. Became a national champion in both handball and LEGO building. Studied business, engineering, and psychology. Spent years exploring the world while working remotely, traveling with my family and only two 7kg packs. I stay grounded through daily meditation, yoga, running, calisthenics, and dancing.
